Wishing you a very “Happy Independence Day” in advance! On 15th of August, India gears up to celebrate one of the most important days in its history – “Independence Day“. It’s a special day that marks India’s freedom from British rule back in 1947.
Now, there’s a bit of confusion about whether it’s the 77th or 78th India Independence Day. Here’s the simple math: British control ended in 1947, and since that day, we’ve celebrated our freedom every year. The first celebration was in 1948, so if you count all the years up to 2024, it’s the 77th anniversary. But, if you count 1947 as the first observance, then 2024 marks the 78th time we’re observing this historic date.
So, you can say that in 2024, India is celebrating its 78th Independence Day.
